Far-Right activist Danny Tommo denied bail after migrant boat slashed in Channel

Daniel Thomas pleads not guilty to charges of criminal damage and failing to disclose the Pin code for his phone

A far-Right activist has been denied bail after a migrant boat was slashed in the Channel.

Daniel Thomas, an anti-migrant protester known as Danny Tommo, denied charges of criminal damage and failing to disclose the Pin code for his phone at Basingstoke magistrates’ court on Friday.

The activist was charged with the alleged offences on Thursday.

Thomas, a father-of-four and a roofer, will now be held in prison on remand. He was seen dabbing his eyes with a tissue during the hearing.

Thomas, 37, was arrested earlier this week after livestreaming himself appearing to slash a dinghy that had been carrying migrants on Tuesday.

He appeared in court after being charged by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary with criminal damage and not disclosing to police the access code to his mobile phone.

The court heard that a crew member was on the boat whilst it was heard leaking air.

Thomas elected for a Crown Court trial and will next appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Tuesday, Sept 29.

On Tuesday, Thomas began a livestream monitoring a migrant boat that had set off from the Normandy coast the previous morning.
