We must never forget the ‘progressive’ betrayal of the Israeli hostages

Why so many in the West turned their backs on the Jews seized by Hamas. 13th October 2025 Spiked 13/10/25 Link They’re home. After 738 days in hellish captivity, the last living Israeli hostages are free. After more than two years in the cruel bondage of that army of anti-Semites, they have tasted liberty again. Twenty souls returned to their families, and to a nation that prayed for their release. When they are ready they will tell of the horrors they endured in Hamas’s tunnels, those dank lairs of Jew hatred. But for now, in Israel and those parts of the civilised world not yet lost to Israelophobia, the emotion people will be feeling is joy. There are 20 of them, all men. They include twin brothers: Gali and Ziv Berman, 28, taken from Kibbutz Kfar Aza. And brothers Ariel and David Cunio, 28 and 35, abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz. Ariel’s partner, Arbel Yehud, was also kidnapped, then released in January this year. In a chilling testament to the barbarous cruelty of Hamas’s pogrom, Dav...

Reform Members’ Sunday Update

Another week, and another political conference! It kicked off with day two of the Tory conference, and it was the turn of Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride to deliver his speech (who, you may be asking…?!) As he took to the stage, the auditorium was almost empty. I counted about 55 people there. You could probably fit the whole lot in the back of a coach! It seems not even the Tories are interested in the Tories anymore. From people I have spoken to, the mood was definitely downbeat, with delegates deserting the main hall for the various bars to drown their sorrows.     After 14 years of a Conservative government, Britain’s small businesses are still being crushed by taxes, red tape, and now a Labour government that doesn’t care. Reform UK is the only party that gets it, because we actually listen to the people who run businesses. And many of us in the senior team have also run businesses.    If you own a small or medium-sized business, we want to hear from you. Ta...

Britain embraced authoritarianism long before Starmer’s ID cards

Starmer won’t stop illegal migration. But he could leave us with a China-style social credit system 27 September 2025 5:12pm BST Daily Telegraph  Link After barely a year, Sir Keir Starmer has reached the stage that signifies the final stuttering demise of every drained, divided and directionless government. Rocked by scandal, unable to constrain the rise in debt and desperate to change the subject, he has hit on that perennial answer-in-search-of-a-problem, mandatory identity cards. ID cards are always sold as the answer to whatever is bothering voters at that moment. It might be benefits fraud, or it might be online theft. Now it happens to be illegal immigration. In reality, of course, the solution to illegal immigration is to stop people entering the country improperly rather than to tighten controls on the entire population. ID cards have done nothing to solve the problem on the Continent. The arguments in favour of the plan have swithered around a bit over the past 30 years, ...

Trump’s Gaza deal is the ultimate humiliation for the West’s woke Left

Starmer rewarded Hamas terrorism, but the US president’s robustness is bringing peace to the Middle East 09 October 2025 Daily Telegraph  Link This Gaza ceasefire deal is a prodigious diplomatic achievement for Donald Trump. It is a win for Israel, which gets much more and has been forced to concede less than any of its critics thought possible. The surviving October 7 hostages are set to be released on Monday or Tuesday. If the next phases of Trump’s deal work out even in part, the art of Western diplomacy will have been revitalised, courtesy of Trump. But the happy news is an awkward development for Leftist anti-Zionism, which finds itself on the wrong side of history. The Greta-loving, keffiyeh-wearing activists who denounce Israel as evil and defend Islamist terrorism in the same breath have never looked more out of touch. The deal and release of the hostages is also an embarrassment for Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron and all of those who stated their unconditional, premature re...

Labour is blinded by a misguided sense of moral superiority. The Rayner scandal proves it

The Government has proclaimed the former deputy leader a hero. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds 10 October 2025 Daily Telegraph Link The good people of the Labour Party are big fans of high taxes, until the taxman comes knocking on the doors of their grandees. And so, Angela Rayner may have had to leave the Government in disgrace over underpaid stamp duty, but to her colleagues she is a martyr. Angela Rayner has adopted her ‘one rule for them, another rule for us’ refrain she regularly flung at the Tories Last week at the Labour Party conference, MPs and delegates rallied around the former deputy prime minister to pay homage. Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary, led the tributes from the main conference, thanking Rayner for her “achievement”. “And we want her back as well”, he declared, to rapturous applause and a standing ovation. “We need her back.” His leader, Sir Keir Starmer, pronounced (albeit with his trademark air of someone perpetually in discomfort), Rayner “will be a major vo...

Robert Jenrick is right – Britain feels more and more Balkanised

It is not ‘racist’ to lament the rise of monocultural ethnic enclaves. Spiked Brendan O'Neill chief political writer 8th October 2025 Link Robert Jenrick has only gone and forgotten the golden rule of the woke era. Namely, that you are permitted to bemoan a surplus of white people, but you must never clock an absence of white people. Wailing about the pale, stale males who clog up our institutions is fine. Wondering where the white people are at when you visit certain parts of the Midlands is evil. How did these rules of the new racialism slip his mind? Jenrick – the newly svelte YouTubin’ Tory – is in hot water for comments he made during a dinner at the Aldridge-Brownhills Conservative Association on 14 March. Yes, seven months ago. He mentioned visiting Handsworth in Birmingham. He said that in the hour-and-a-half he was filming – man’s always filming – he ‘didn’t see another white face’. It was ‘one of the worst-integrated places I’ve ever been to’, he said. Someone recorded h...

'We deserve it!' Lenny Henry demands taxpayers cover slavery reparations for ALL black British people

Britons would be forced to shell out £18trillion to 'dismantle the foundations' of Western society Published: 08/10/2025 - 00:46 GB News Link Sir Lenny Henry has called for all black British people to receive slavery reparations at the taxpayer's expense. In a book co-written by the comedian titled The Big Payback, the UK is urged to pay £18trillion in compensation - not only to Caribbean nations, but also to British citizens. In an excerpt from the book, Sir Lenny wrote that "all black British people... need reparations for slavery", adding: "We personally deserve money for the effects of slavery." The book, co-authored by TV executive and diversity charity boss Marcus Ryder, explains the arguments and historical precedent for the handouts. The majority of Britain's 2.4 million-strong black population is of direct African descent, rather than being descendants of slaves in the Caribbean. Though this is not directly referenced in the book, it is argu...
