Well, its try, try, and try again, if at first you don't succeed.
However, for some reason Boris does not want to bring the WAB back, and I understand why, it will be amended to death to something it never was or ever will be.
The fact is, there is a way to put Labour and the rest of the opposition to shame, strip the treaty out of the WAB as May did on one occasion which means its only a vote on the agreement. That cannot be amended, otherwise you amend the treaty itself.
Therefore Boris could attempt to pass the treaty alone, make it clear its a debate and vote purely on the text of the treaty, its pass or fail.
If the bill falls then there is no point progressing to the political declaration and that really is "stalemate" and demonstrably so, there is then, literally nowhere else to go and more importantly its clearly demonstrated to the EU that its a 100% impasse.
Boris would then have to tell the EU the news (as if they don't already know) and state that he'll keep trying to get a GE but once we get past December 12th as an election date its really impossible to get a GE before January 31st.
If I was Boris, I'd be having a lot of discussions with my old mate Macron. Thanks for the extension I told you I didn't want and that is going to achieve exactly what i told you it would - Nothing. You can wait until January 31st but the spineless trolls will be asking you for another extension and we'll be no further forward and they will have no plan to take it any further forward.
So Mr Macron, do you want endless extensions for no purpose or do you want this resolved? If you do, you'll have to intervene NOW and get the commission to send a letter to the speaker to read out.
"It has become clear to the EU that parliament is unable to decide a path forward. It is now time to concentrate minds. You have until 31st January with no further extensions possible and the UK will have left the EU by 31st January. It is for all of you to decide by what means. There is only one deal on the table, it will not be renegotiated. It is time to conclude your deliberations"
So, if they won't vote for a GE, they will have to vote through the WAB, otherwise its "no deal" on January 31st.
